The OWHL U-22 Elite loop is the premier pathway for women's hockey players to the NCAA. Among those teams, the Etobicoke Dolphins and Burlington Barracudas are two of the top programs in Canada, and are showing it early on.
Etobicoke forward and Princeton commit Mackenzie Alexander currently leads the OWHL in scoring with 16 points in five games. Her Etobicoke teammate Emma Beauchamp, who is committed to Colgate, sits fourth in league scoring with 12 points in five games.
On the Burlington Barracudas roster, recent University of Minnesota commit Sara Manness is second in OWHL scoring with eight goals and 15 points, while Claire Murdoch is the league's top scorer with nine goals and sits third in scoring with 13 points. Murdoch is headed to the University of Connecticut next season.
The other dynamic scoring duo out of the gate in the OWHL is Waterloo's Caitlin Kraemer and Abby Stonehouse who have 10 and nine points respectively through four games. The Team Canada pairing also have their NCAA tickets punched with Kraemer heading to Minnesota-Duluth and Stonehouse committed to Penn State.
