The Saskatchewan Junior Female Hockey League (SJFHL) recently unveiled their logo in preparation for the league's inaugural season, featuring the likeness of Olympic and World Championship gold medalist Emily Clark.
Clark, who hails from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and spent three seasons playing women's 'AAA' hockey in Saskatchewan for the Saskatoon stars, has won gold with Canada at the 2012 and 2013 U-18 World Championships, 2022 Olympic Games, and 2021 and 2022 World Championships.
The 27-year-old forward also won an NCAA title with Wisconsin in 2019 before turning pro playing in the PWHPA where she won a Secret Cup with Team Harvey's in 2023. This season Clark will play in the PWHL.
The new SJFHL will launch this Fall with six teams competing in Regina, Kindersley, Lumsden, Outlook, Saskatoon, and Southwest (Swift Current/Gull Lake).
Training camps for multiple SJHL teams are already underway with the season slated to begin October 1. The league will allow for players to stay home and continue to develop playing competitive hockey while athletes pursue postsecondary options.
