Long time Team USA member Megan Bozek has officially announced her retirement from hockey.

Bozek represented the United States at two Olympic Games, including in 2022, winning silver each time. She also has won four World Championship gold medals and two silver.

“I never thought I would be a member of USA Hockey representing my country for over a decade," said Bozek in a USA Hockey news release

"Playing alongside some of my best friends and role models, all who’ve been valuable members of helping grow the game of hockey, has been something truly special. I retire knowing I left everything I could out on the ice every time every time I laced up my skates, and I thank USA Hockey for giving me the opportunity to live out my dream.”

In her senior season captaining the University of Minnesota, Bozek was named the WCHA's defensive player of the year. She followed up that honor being named the NWHL's Defender of the Year in 2017 helping the Buffalo Beauts win an Isobel Cup. The following season Bozek won a CWHL championship as a member of the Markham Thunder.

As Katie Million, director of USA Hockey's women's national team programs said, Bozek was an integral and revered member of Team USA.

“Megan Bozek represents determination and all that it takes to be part of the Women’s National Team program,” said Million.

“Megan embodied perseverance and attention to detail throughout her career on the ice and brought a consistent presence in the locker room. She will be missed, and we wish her all the best in the next chapter of life.”

Bozek's collection of championships spans back to 2009 when she made her U-18 national team debut winning gold with Team USA. Bozek was also a member of two NCAA national championship teams with Minnesota.

While Bozek's playing career is ending, she intends to remain involved in the sport. This season Bozek served as a television analyst for multiple Vegas Golden Knights and Henderson Silver Knights games.
