Abby Hustler is a 5-foot-9 winger who spent her NCAA career with St. Lawrence. Throughout her NCAA career, Hustler established herself as one of the top scoring forwards in NCAA hockey.
Hustler would be the league's first ever player from Prince Edward Island the 22-year-old averaged more than a point per game in her four seasons at St. Lawrence including 39 points in 39 games this season, and 55 points in 39 games last year.
She's excited for the opportunity the PWHL presents.
"It’s an amazing opportunity that allows players like me to have a chance to play after college," Hustler told The Hockey News. "Without the original group to pave the way the league wouldn’t be where it is today."
Described as a power forward who can play a physical game, Hustler likes to shoot the puck, but is a capable playmaker as well.
Hustler is skilled at finding quiet spaces in the offensive zone evading coverage in scoring positions. She's particularly dangerous posted in the slot and on the right circle where she uses her one timer and quick release to beat goaltenders.
It might take Hustler a season to fully adapt to the PWHL, but she's a player who projects as middle to top six winger in the league who can handle the contact and contribute offensively.
