    Dayle Ross

Dayle Ross is a powerful skater and one of the top defenders to watch in this draft class. While she doesn't come with the name recognition of some blueliners who have spent time with their national programs, Ross is an efficient defender who should fit well in the PWHL.

Ross is strong on pucks rarely losing a battle and her skating is elite. She uses her feet to close gaps and angle opponents away from her net.

While Ross isn't known as an offensive blueliner, her skills will help a PWHL team clean up their own zone. She's capable of moving the puck up ice quickly transitioning with her feet pointing up ice and quickly turning to the attack. While she's not going to lead the league in points from the blueline, Ross does make good decisions at the offensive line.

She's excited for the opportunity to move beyond NCAA hockey where she's spent the past four seasons as a stalwart with St. Cloud State.

"I think it’s very exciting for any player wanting to continue a career in hockey," Ross told The Hockey News. "Now with the PWHL it allows younger players to look forward to a future past college hockey. The PWHL allows for more development at a higher level than what was offered in the past. The PWHL is also a motivator for a lot of younger players coming up inspiring them to work towards even bigger goals then just Division 1 hockey. The growth of the game is gonna be dramatically big in the next few years in a great way. It’s nice to be able to see women’s sports nearing the same professional level as men’s sports. "

Ross is expected to bring character to a dressing room in the PWHL after serving as a respected leader in the WCHA with St. Cloud State. Her skating is what will keep her in the pros along with her willingness to play a physical game, and paying attention to the fine details of defending.
