The Boston Fleet and Montreal Victoire played at Agganis Arena for the first time in league history.
Agganis Arena, home of the Boston University Terriers, may have been a new location for the PWHL, but not a new location for many players.
Victoire captain Marie-Philip Poulin was the only player who had gone to Boston University. Poulin played at Agganis during her time at BU from 2010-15.
Following the game Poulin said, “I mean, it was very special to come back to Boston, and even more to play here at Agganis Arena. I'll say, it brought back great memories. It was four years of my life that were some of the best. So, it was really special, and I'm really happy with the win.”
Other players that had returned were on the United States vs Canada pre-Olympic exhibition game on October 15, 2017.
Team Canada featured Poulin, Laura Stacey and Boston’s Jill Saulnier. Saulnier recorded one assist while Poulin had one goal and one assist to contribute to Team Canada’s victory.
Team USA featured Fleet’s Hannah Brandt, Megan Keller, Hilary Knight, Amanda Pelkey
Other players that appeared at Agganis during their collegiate careers were Jill Saulnier, who played in 2012 with Cornell and Mikyla Grant-Mentis, who played with Merrimack in 2016.
The game ultimately ended in a Fleet loss, however the team returns to Agganis on March 28th to face the Toronto Sceptres, who are currently tied for second place in the league with the Fleet.
