The New York Sirens have been without star forward Alex Carpenter for four games. In that span the team lost all four in regulation. It's why there's a atmosphere of excitement surrounding Carpenter's planned return to the lineup tonight against the Toronto Sceptres.
“I am excited to be back in the lineup tonight and to be back with my teammates," said Carpenter. "As a group, we want to get back on track, and there’s no better place to do it than at home.”
Carpenter hasn't played since a January 31 shootout loss to the Boston Fleet where she exited the game with an upper body injury. At the time of her injury Carpenter was tied for fifth in the PWHL with 12 points.
She was clicking on New York's top line alongside Sarah Fillier and Jessie Eldridge, but the team has struggled in her absence.
New York enters the game tonight sitting last in the PWHL with 20 points in 17 games. Their opponent, Toronto, sits fourth with 26 points. New York has a game in hand.
