Lauren MacInnis has signed a one-year contract with the PHF's Buffalo Beauts. The 24-year-old blueliner spent last season with Frölunda in Sweden's NDHL.
“I signed with the Beauts because it has always been a dream of mine to play professional hockey,” said MacInnis. “The city of Buffalo has a great hockey history and a great fan base. I could not be more excited to continue my career in Buffalo.”
MacInnis helped Frölunda earn promotion to Sweden's top division scoring 11 points in 18 regular season and playoff games with the team that also featured international stars like Michelle Karvinen and Hanna Olsson.
Prior to joining Frölunda, MacInnis spent five seasons in the NCAA with Northeastern.
According to Buffalo Beauts general manager Nate Oliver, MacInnis plays a defensive defender style game that will help the Beauts improve upon their goals against from last season.
“Lauren is a very solid shutdown D and has been for her entire hockey career,” said Beauts GM Nate Oliver. “We allowed the most goals in the PHF last season, and I believe that Lauren will help be a remedy to that. She is big and tough and is positionally very sound."
“I am definitely a defensive-defender who makes a good first pass,” said MacInnis. “I am a solid penalty-killer, and I have a good shot from the blue line.”
MacInnis joins a Beauts blueline that already includes Dominique Kremer, Aoi Shiga, Amalie Andersen, and Allison Attea.
