It appears the Buffalo Beauts and Minnesota Whitecaps, the PHF's lone two teams with coaching vacancies, are both closing in on their preferred candidates for the jobs.

"We had a lot of interest in the position - way more than I anticipated," Whitecaps general manager Chi-Yin Tse told The Hockey News

"After going through initial resumes, I narrowed down the pool and had really good conversations with candidates. As it stands right now, we just finished signing the majority of our roster and I will present the top three candidates to a small selection group of players to gain their feedback."

In Buffalo, according to Beauts general manager Nate Oliver, his team is even closer. Oliver has identified hiss top candidate and hopes to proceed soon.

"I have identified my topmost candidate," Oliver told The Hockey News. "Just waiting for final approval to move forward with an offer to this individual."

Last season Ronda Engelhardt coached the Minnesota Whitecaps to an Isobel Cup final appearance, while Rhea Coad served as head coach for the Buffalo Beauts.

The remaining PHF teams are coached by Paul Mara (Boston Pride), Geraldine Heaney (Toronto Six), Colton Orr (Connecticut Whale), Peter Smith (Montreal Force), and Venla Hovi (Metropolitan Riveters).
