Haley Winn was the top ranked defender in the 2025 PWHL Draft and it didn't take her long to find herself off the board being picked. The Boston Fleet picked Haley Winn second overall in the 2025 Draft.

Winn recently finished her NCAA career with Clarkson this season in impressive fashion. Winn totalled 46 points in 38 games from the blueline and added three points in seven games helping USA win gold at the 2025 World Championships

Winn has been looking forward to PWHL Draft day all season including watching closely for where some of her Clarkson teammates like Nicole Gosling and Anne Cherkowski are set to land.

"I think it's super exciting, when I came into college, even four years ago, you didn't have this opportunity to play professionally after college," Winn told The Hockey News ahead of the draft. "It's just such an exciting step in the game and something that's so cool to grow the game and inspire girls and show them there's something to work for after college. I'm just so fortunate to be playing in a time like this and have an opportunity to continue playing, to play for a long time, and be able to hopefully make it a career."

Winn was the only player from outside the WCHA named a First Team All-American this season for her efforts with Clarkson.

She's known as a mobile offensive defender who is an elite distributor and is willing to compete physically. Winn uses her skating to take away time and space before quickly transitioning pucks up ice.
