Patty Kazmaier Award winner Sophie Jaques has signed her first professional contract with the PWHL's Boston franchise. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Jaques was named the NCAA's top player in 2023 and is the back-to-back reigning WCHA Defensive Player of the Year.

The 23-year-old blueliner was Boston's second round pick, 10th overall in the inaugural PWHL Draft. Last season with Ohio State Jaques recorded 24 goals and 48 points in 41 games. The year prior she scored 59 points in 38 games leading Ohio State to a national championship.

Jaques participated in Hockey Canada's Fall selection camp this year and is considered a leading contender to challenge for a spot on Canada's senior national team this year.

Jaques joins Megan Keller, Hilary Knight, and Aerin Frankel as Boston's signed players.
