Britta Curl posted an apology video to fans and the communities she hurt with transphobic and racist social media activity during her time with the University of Wisconsin.

PWHL Minnesota draft pick Britta Curl addressed fans in a video she posted to "X" Friday evening.
Curl was the 9th overall pick at the 2024 PWHL Draft, but drew criticism for years of transphobic and racist social media activity, including making posts against transgender women, and liking several other bigoted posts.
Curl addressed those concerns in her video.
"I think I owe it to you guys to come on here and directly respond to these concerns," said Curl. "I specifically recognize my that social media activity has resulted in hurt being felt across communities in including LGBTQ+ and BIPOC individuals. I just want to apologize and take ownership of that."
"To those of you who may still have reservations, I hope you can extend me the grace to prove to you who I really am," she concluded. "I'm just so grateful to be here, to be a part of this, and thanks for your open minds, your open hearts, I really hope to see you guys next season."
Curl captained the University of Wisconsin last season finishing tied for third in NCAA scoring with 62 points in 41 games. Curl also represented Team USA at the World Championships winning silver.
Both PWHL Minnesota and the league itself also issued statements the same evening as Curl's.
The PWHL statement read, "Our commitment remains steadfast: to build an inclusive league that develops, supports, and elevates the best women's hockey players in the world while fostering a safe and welcoming environment for our growing, diverse and devoted fan base."
