Minnesota's Britta Curl-Salemme was suspended for one game following a hit to the head on Toronto's Renata Fast in game one of the PWHL playoffs.

According to a PWHL news release, "The Player Safety Committee determined that Curl-Salemme, at 14:37 of the second period in Wednesday's game, delivered a high and forceful check on opponent Renata Fast, making the head the main point of contact on a play where such contact to the head was avoidable."

Curl-Salemme was assessed a five minute major and a game misconduct. It's her third suspension for head contact this season.

Her hit was defended by Minnesota head coach Ken Klee who called it a "hockey play" and stated it was "nothing malicious."

Toronto captain Blayre Turnbull referred to the hit as "ugly" while Toronto head coach Troy Ryan stayed the league is "trying to get those high hits or any contact to the head out of the game."

Game two of Toronto and Minnesota's best-of-five series resumes tonight. Britta Curl-Salemme will be eligible to return for game three in Minnesota.
