The Buffalo Beauts have signed netminder Lovisa Berndtsson to a one-year contract worth $44,000. The 34-year-old Swedish netminder was Buffalo's starter last season, her second campaign with the Beauts.
“Ever since my first season in Buffalo I’ve felt at home and have really enjoyed my time,” said Berndtsson in a team news release. “I’ve gained a lot of friends during my time here and I really want to keep being a part of the Beauts family.”
Last year Berndtsson finished 2-8-0-3. Her .893 save percentage and 3.61 GAA were both last amongst PHF starters last season and 10th among goaltenders who played at least a third of their team's games last season.
“We feel very comfortable having Lollo in net for us and it was important to get her back for a third season,” said Beauts general manager Nate Oliver. “She has faced the best shooters in the world throughout her career, and that level of experience that she brings is key for a younger team such as ourselves. Lollo embodies the values that the Beauts are built upon, such as battling through adversity and never being out-cared. Really glad to work alongside her for another season.”
Prior to joining the PHF, Berndtsson spent a decade playing in the SDHL where she was named the league's goalie of the year in 2016-2017, the same season she made her lone national team appearance for Sweden, playing one game at the World Championships.
The Beauts have now signed 11 players this offseason.
