The Metropolitan Riveters announced they have re-signed Sarah Bujold and Fanni Gasparics to one-year contracts.

After three seasons in the SDHL, Bujold made her PHF debut last season scoring 20 points in 23 games for the Riveters, while also representing Canada at the PHF All-Star weekend.

“Sarah had a breakthrough season last year, but she is only getting started,” said head coach Venla Hovi in a team press release. “Her strength and speed make her an explosive power forward who is always looking to go to the net. We are very lucky to have her back and continue on the Riveters.”

“I’m really excited for another season with the Rivs,” Bujold said. “I really enjoyed last season and I like the area and entire organization. We have great resources here which is a big part of signing another year.”

Bujold is a former USports player of the year with St. Francis Xavier.

Also re-signing was Hungarian national team member Fanni Gasparics, who represented her country at the recent IIHF World Championships in Brampton, Ontario.

Gasparics, 28, was also in her first season in the PHF, scoring 14 points in 24 games. She joined the league after spending multiple seasons with MAC Budapest in the EWHL.

“We are looking forward to having the Hungarian force Fanni back for another year with us,” said Hovi. “She is an energy giver and is a highly competitive person. Those two aspects make us better as a team, and I know she has the opportunity to keep improving. She inspires young players around the world and is a great example where hard work can take you even from a smaller hockey country,”
