Charge Share Special Day With Season Ticket Holders

The Ottawa Charge held a very special practice in front of their season ticket holders in an annual event to show their appreciation for the support fans have provided all season long.

“This gives us an opportunity to share a little bit about what we do, how we do it, why we do it but with an audience that is so engaged and fun,” said head coach Carla MacLeod. “I just find the whole endeavour so interactive. I can’t state enough how much we love our fans.”

The team took to the ice for two hours and participated in passing drills, then a three on three scrimmage, capped off by a sudden death shootout.

“It was great. The turnout was great, the crowd was loud which is what I expected since Ottawa has the best fans,” said Jocelyne Larocque, who took part in her first such event in Ottawa. “Having these events with season ticket holders is huge and what’s important for this league to help it grow. It’s important to do something special like this for the season ticket holders.”

What makes these experiences so special is that fans don’t just get a behind-the-scenes look at game preparation, they also get to see the team’s unique personalities shine. From chanting and starting the wave to cheering during drills, fans were encouraged to bring the energy and be part of the action, and you could see just how much the players were feeding off that support.

“Today, I was a little more excited to come to practice knowing that there are going to be a lot of people here in the stands,” said Anna Meixner following her first season ticket holder event. “We appreciate the fans so much and we’re so happy to have every single person who was here today. I don’t know if they know how thankful we all are for them.”

Of note, Katerina Mrázová and Rebecca Leslie did partake in the event but did not participate in the various drills as they continue to nurse injuries in the hopes of a return shortly.
