Jesse Compher scored with less than two minutes remaining and Kristen Campbell stopped 21 shots to give PWHL Toronto a 2-0 playoff series lead over Minnesota.
After 58:25 of scoreless hockey, Jesse Compher tipped home the game winner late in the third period for PWHL Toronto, giving them a 2-0 series lead in their best of five series against PWHL Minnesota.
The goaltenders, Kristen Campbell for Toronto and Maddie Rooney came up big in this game, with Campbell posting a shutout, stopping all 21 shots she faced, and Rooney stopping 28 of the 29 shots she faced in Toronto's 2-0 win.
Rooney and Campbell traded saves throughout the night including three powerplay opportunities for Toronto and four for Minnesota.
Eventually it was Compher's net front tip off a Renata Fast point shot that broke the deadlock. With time winding down, Minnesota pulled Rooney for the extra attacker, but Toronto's Hannah Miller slid an insurance marker into the empty cage for the 2-0 win.
Game three, which is a win or you'e out moment for Minnesota, will take place Monday, May 13 in Minnesota at 8pm ET.
Minnesota has now lost seven straight games in regulation. Their last win came more than a month ago prior to the international break to accommodate the IIHF World Championships.
