In year one of the PWHL’s existence, league MVP Natalie Spooner was the first, and to date only, player to record a season scoring more than a point per game.
Spooner recorded 27 points in the 24 game season.
In year two of the PWHL, the league expanded their schedule to 30 games, but no player was able to maintain a point per game pace. Hilary Knight and Sarah Fillier came close tying for the league lead in scoring with 29 points each.
While they came close, neither hit the 30 point mark. This season however, there are multiple players with a chance to for the first time eclipse the mark, headlined by Minnesota’s Taylor Heise.
Through 18 games this season, Heise has 20 points. Prior to her injury at the 2026 Olympics, Minnesota Frost captain Kendall Coyne Schofield was also scoring at more than a point per game pace, but her hopes of a 30 point season have since evaporated. Minnesota’s Britta Curl-Salemme is the only other player currently sitting with a shot at a point per game season with 18 points in 18 games.
Heise is only two points shy of her career best season from last year when the inaugural first overall pick scored 22 points in 29 games.
If Heise can hit the 30 point mark, it will set a new standard for offensive excellence in the PWHL.
