PWHL Detroit and Team USA forward Britta Curl-Salemme has announced her pregnancy. Curl-Salemme is expected to miss the entirety of the PWHL season.
Britta Curl-Salemme is expected to miss the 2026-27 PWHL season after announcing her pregnancy this week.
Team USA raised speculation when Curl-Salemme was not included on their 2026 World Championship roster this week. USA veteran Kendall Coyne Schofield was also omitted from the roster, but had publicly announced her pregnancy prior to the roster being unveiled.
Curl-Salemme shared an image alongside her husband on social media Monday with a 'bun in the oven' between them.
Last season Curl-Salemme finished third in PWHL scoring as a member of the Minnesota Frost scoring 11 goals and 29 points in 30 games. She was named a PWHL Second Team All-Star for her efforts.
Curl-Salemme also won Olympic gold with Team USA scoring six points in seven games.
Curl-Salemme signed a three-year contract with PWHL Detroit during the expansion process.
“We’ll certainly miss Britta in the lineup when we hit the ice for our inaugural season, but we’re so happy for her and Andrew, who are embarking on an exciting new chapter of their own,” Detroit GM Manon Rheaume wrote in a team statement.
