Danielle Serdachny didn't wait long to hear her name called in the 2024 PWHL Draft as the Colgate and Team Canada star was selected by Ottawa second overall in the draft.
Danielle Serdachny was a consensus first round pick, and it didn't take long for the Colgate and Team Canada star to hear her name at the 2024 Draft as she was selected second overall by PWHL Ottawa.
As The Hockey News wrote in a draft profile on Serdachny earlier this season, "Serdachny is a big bodied forward who protects the puck well and is extremely dangerous around the net."
The 23-year-old, 5-foot-9 Serdachny scored 22 goals and 61 points (1.53 points per game) in 40 games this season with Colgate University and was named an NCAA Second Team All-American and Patty Kazmaier Award finalist for her efforts.
In international competition this season, Serdachny posted four points in seven games for Canada at the 2024 World Championships, including scoring the golden goal in overtime for Canada in their 6-5 win over USA.
Despite her success, according to her Colgate teammates, and fellow PWHL Draft prospect Kaitlyn O'Donahoe, Serdachny is the ultimate teammate and has remained humble.
“That’s one of the things about her. She's won a ton of awards here and on the international stage, and she’s getting all this attention, but she remains one of the most humble people that I’ve met," O'Donahoe told Utica's Observer-Dispatch. "She’s remained her same, genuine self throughout these past five years.”
Serdachny also blocked 35 shots this season and was a +29 for Colgate.
During her NCAA career, the Edmonton product was twice named a First Team All-American. Prior to her NCAA career she played for the Edmonton Pandas and Pursuit of Excellence, and won a gold medal as a member of Canada's U-18 national team.
