Ella Shelton, 25, has been selected 4th overall in the first found by New York in the PWHL Draft.
Shelton, a 5-foot-8 defender from Ingersoll, Ontario has been a member of Canada's national team since 2020-2021 winning Olympic gold, two World Championship golds and a silver.
Shelton has played primarily bottom pairing minutes for Canada, but will be counted upon heavily as a top four blueliner in the PWHL. In 2022 she broke out offensively at the World Championships recording nine points in seven games from Canada's blueline.
At the NCAA level, Shelton was part of a powerhouse Clarkson program winning back-to-back national championships in 2017 and 2018.
