It’s the 2024 PWHL draft tonight in St. Paul, Minnesota, and for the Montreal fan base, many questions arise ahead of it. Who will be Montreal’s first round pick? Which position should the team get more depth? And, of course, is the team going to draft Concordia Stingers’ captain Emmy Fecteau?

According to a source close to the situation, Fecteau had interviews with four teams so far, Montreal not being one of them.

While it might be surprising to hear, perhaps Daniele Sauvageau and her team decided to interview players they didn’t know as well as Fecteau. The 25-year-old played in Montreal the past few seasons and also trained at 21.02 Center in Verdun, a training facility founded by Sauvageau herself.

According to the same source, there’s one team in particular who spoke to Fecteau a few times already, and the feeling around the league is that if Montreal doesn’t draft her in the first four rounds, another team will.

All the mock drafts put Fecteau between 28 and 35. With very few French-Canadians being ranked in the top 42 future draftees, Montreal would definitely be missing on a special player if they wait too long. One question remains, though: are they interested enough?
