Boston Fleet goalie, Aerin Frankel is typically a “steady-eddie," as Head Coach Courtney Kessel describes her, however she showed some emotion on Friday night when the Fleet faced the New York Sirens.

Chaos broke out as New York’s Paetyn Levis fell into the net with Knight.

In a wild sequence, Levis began to push Knight, to which Frankel stepped in. It then appeared that Levis tried to instigate something with Frankel, which was unsuccessful, but rattled the usually pulse-less goalie.

“I normally try to stay out of that stuff. I just didn't like how she was hitting Hill, and that's our captain, and then the day, she literally pushed me into the net, just kind of interfering with my positioning, so I guess I got a little feisty” said Frankel.

As a result of the Levis/Frankel interaction, Knight swooped in and crosschecked Levis to the ice. A blatant crosscheck from Knight sent both her and Levis to the box.

Knight stood up for her goalie, who has remained a key factor in the team’s success. How she remains calm most of the time? Frankel said, “I think just taking it one shot at a time. This game just goes to show, a team is never down now with how competitive the league is. So as a goalie, it's so important to stay focused the entire game, because things can change really quickly.”

Both Knight and Levis went to the box for two minutes. Knight to the box for cross-checking. Levis to the box for roughing. The two were seen exchanging heated words as they skated to the box while.

These weren’t the only penalties given out on Friday night, the two teams earned fifteen penalties in total. The high intensity game gave both teams plenty of power plays.

As for the physicality Friday night, Head Coach Courtney Kessel said, “I'm not sure why it was feisty. I think it's tough to manage the energy, especially the highs and lows” she continued, “I think you have two teams going head to head, that all that both need points, and so I think that's where the physicality comes from”.

The two teams are set to face off once again February 12th, this time in New York. The game can be watched on TSN or MSG.
