Emma Woods, an inaugural member of the Toronto Six has re-signed a one year contract with the team for 2023-2024.
Emma Woods has re-signed a one-year contract with the PHF's Toronto Six. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Woods is an original member of the Toronto Six, last season finishing with 23 points in 24 games for the Isobel Cup champions.
“I’ve been here since day one. I have a lot of pride in this organization," said Woods.
"Obviously to be a part of the first Isobel Cup championship here was special for me, but it doesn’t mean I want to do it any less than I wanted to do it the first time. I’m looking forward to another season here. I think we’re going to be a good squad again next year. Each year is a new year. The league is continuing to grow and while we were able to bring home the cup last year, I think it’s going to be a whole different season. I think the hunger to do it all again from everyone on the Toronto Six is going to exist, so I just look forward to doing that.
“Toronto is where I want to play, so I didn’t have any real intentions of leaving,” Woods continued. “Obviously things happen across the league, but this is where I want to be. This is where I want to be playing and I’m happy to be staying.”
Woods, 27, captained Quinnipiac at the NCAA level before spending two seasons in the CWHL and another in the SDHL before joining the Six. Her experience and leadership, serving as an assistant captain with Toronto are valued attributes.
“Emma always comes to the rink with a smile, she wants to compete, she’s a competitor and a professional,” said Angela James, general manager of the Toronto Six. “She’s got a bullet of a shot and again is one of our veteran leaders returning of our leadership group to steer this new team to recapture the Isobel Cup.”
