PWHL fans have been watching the list of offseason retirees grow in recent weeks. With the release of training camp rosters for all six PWHL teams this week, it appears that number will balloon by another dozen players.

Among the players omitted from PWHL training camp rosters were veterans Kaleigh Fratkin, who spent the bulk of last season in Boston's top four on the blueline, and Montreal's Ann-Sophie Bettez.

The list however, is much larger including Fanni Gasparics, Leah Lum, Sarah Lefort, Abby Cook, Victoria Howran, Alex Poznikoff, Rosalie Demers, Emma Buckles, Sammy Davis, Lindsey Post, and Carley Olivier who all saw regular season action in the league last year. Looking at reserves that list grows again to include Emma Keenan, Nikki Nightengale, Lauren MacInnis, and Brooke Stacey.

This list compounds the group of players who have formally retired this offseason including Lauriane Rougeau, Melodie Daoust, Brittany Howard, Jess Jones, Lauriane Rougeau, Erica Howe, Amanda Leveille, Brittyn Fleming, Sophia Kunin, Brigitte Laganière, Gigi Marvin, Becca Gilmore, and Jess Healey.

Overall, this means of the 147 players who suited up in a regular season game last season in the PHWL, 25 players, equal to 17% of the league are likely to have retired. That number does not include Taylor Wenczkowski who is not returning to the league this season in favor of coaching at the NCAA level, but has not formally retired, and another group of players who will face difficult decisions following PWHL training camps.
