Russian forward Anna Shokhina has signed a one-year contract to join the expansion PWHL Hamilton. She becomes the fifth forward that spent time with the Ottawa Charge last year to move to Hamilton this offseason.
PWHL Hamilton has signed Russian forward Anna Shokhina to a one-year contract bringing Hamilton's roster to 14 signed players.
Shokhina, 29, was a second round pick, 13th overall of the Ottawa Charge last season, but had some struggles adapting to the North American game in her first season. She scored five points in 28 games split between the Charge, and the Vancouver Goldeneyes who acquired her midseason in a six-player deal.
Prior to the PWHL, the Novosinkovo product scored 73 points in 42 games for Dynamo-Neva St. Petersburg in Russia's ZhHL.
Shokhina is a three-time Olympian and has represented Russia at two World Championships.
With Russia's expected return to World Championship competition in 2027 and Olympic competition in 2030, Shokhina is expected to be a key component of Russia's national team moving forward.
Shokhina joins former Ottawa Charge teammates Emily Clark, Brianne Jenner, Peyton Hemp, and Alexa Vasko in Hamilton, and forwards Abby Hustler, Alina Muller, and Kayla Vespa.
