PWHL Boston selected Ohio State forward and Team USA stalwart Hannah Bilka 4th overall in the 2024 PWHL Draft

In a word, Hannah Bilka is offense. A dynamic scorer with speed and skill, she has silky smooth hands and moves that can dazzle. Bilka can create offense out of nothing and thinks the game ahead of opponents. She finds space to make an extra move or makes it for herself with speed before creating a play for teammates. If it’s scoring you need, Bilka can provide it.

That's why PWHL Boston selected Bilka 4th overall in the 2024 PWHL Draft.

According to the PWHL's Hockey Operations department, Bilka “creates space and time for herself and her teammates with world-class speed that is complimented by seamless change of direction. One of the best playmakers in the draft with high-end compete and a sound defensive game.”

Bilka grew up in Coppell, Texas (outside of Dallas), and followed her brother into hockey. She played on boys’ teams until the age of 14, then joined the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite team for tournaments to get exposure for college. As a sophomore, she switched to Shattuck-St. Mary’s prep school in Minnesota, where she posted 26 goals and 65 points in 46 games as a senior, and earned a scholarship to Boston College.

At BC, she was named the 2019-2020 NCAA Rookie of the Year after leading the Eagles in scoring and was a Hockey East First Team All-Star as a junior. She played four seasons at Boston College before moving to Ohio State as a graduate student, There she played 37 games, leading the team in scoring with 22 goals and 26 assists, and won the national championship this past season.

Her USA national team coach John Wroblewski says, “She reminds me a lot of (Anaheim Ducks forward) Trevor Zegras, if I were to compare her to a player on the men’s side. In a class of players that is the best of what they do, she to me is elite at playmaking and one-on-one ability.”

With Team USA, Bilka is a three-time World Championship veteran, winning gold in 2023 and silver in 2022 and 2024.
