Brittany HowardThe PWHL now has more than half the 138 players necessary to meet the requirements of their collective bargaining agreement signed.
Brittany Howard signed a one-year deal with PWHL Toronto becoming the 72nd player signed by the league, most coming in the past two weeks.
Howard returns to Toronto, where she won an Isobel Cup title last season with the PHF's Toronto Six, where she led the Six in scoring with 16 goals and 26 points in 20 games last season.
"We are excited to bring some of the experience of the Toronto Six success of last season with Brittany Howard’s signing," said general manager Gina Kingsbury. "We are excited to welcome her to our PWHL Toronto franchise.”
The Robert Morris University alumni also played in the PWHPA prior to moving to the PHF last season.
“I am so excited to be a member of PWHL Toronto and continue my career in the incredible city," said Howard. "Being from St. Thomas, it is a dream come true. I cannot wait for the puck to drop in 2024 and to play against and with the best players in the world. There’s a new team in town, Toronto hockey fans - I am excited to meet you all very soon.”
Each team in the PWHL requires 23 players to meet their roster requirements, and with the PWHPA reaching 72 signings, the league has passed the halfway point. Boston leads the way with 18 confirmed signings followed by Ottawa with 17. PWHL Montreal has announced the fewest players with only six signing announcements made public to date.
