Ottawa Senators players Ridly Greig and Drake Batherson could be joined by their PWHL Draft eligible sisters Mae Batherson and Dara Greig in Otttawa next season.

You may think of hockey families as following the men's hockey line, but if that ever was the case, it's no longer.
In Ottawa nowadays, the hockey families that spring to mind are not just the Tkachuks, the Chychruns and the Sandersons, but also the brother-sister duos of Drake and Mae Batherson and Ridly and Dara Greig.
Mae Batherson is a projected mid round pick in the upcoming PWHL draft and Dara Greig is projected to go in the second half of the draft.
“If it lines up and looks like she'll be able to take it in the draft, that'd be awesome,” said Drake Batherson of his sister Mae. “And I'll be looking forward to it. And I'll be there for sure.”
Mae Batherson has been standout on defence at Syracuse University and now at St. Lawrence University. Drake Batherson told The Hockey News that he has made the just over an hour drive down to St. Lawrence University three or four times this season and watches the rest of Mae’s games online.
The Bathersons honed their skills behind their house on pond ice in wintertime and then on rollerblades in the summer.
“She's got a real hockey IQ, great passer, good shot, just moves the puck really well and breaks it up really well,” said Batherson. “And a good defender too. I think she's probably got more blocks this year than I do in my whole career,” he said jokingly.
Meanwhile, Drake Batherson’s teammate Ridly Greig likes to watch his sister Dara’s games at Colgate University when he can. He likens her game to his own.
“She's definitely really got a lot of skill,” said Greig. “She plays on a good team there at Colgate, so I think she had four points the other night so it was pretty cool to see her scoring.”
Both Drake Batherson and Ridly Greig say they’d love to see their sisters drafted to PWHL Ottawa..
Ridly Greig, a man of few words, smiled at the thought of his sister playing in Ottawa.
“It would be unreal,” he said. “I'm sure we'd be able to see each other a lot. Yeah, it'd be pretty unique. I'm sure that's never happened before.”
Drake Batherson, who is more of an extrovert, seemed giddy with excitement thinking of his sister Mae coming to PWHL Ottawa.
“It would be unbelievable,” he said. “I mean, just for the family in general. It's pretty much the closest team to home so it'd be unbelievable if she did. I’d definitely show her all the good spots in Ottawa to eat and stuff like that. So it'd be unbelievable, and I hope it happens. It would be great.”
“I'd be her biggest fan and I’d go to a game and definitely throw the jersey on and be cheering loud for her team. So I hope it happens. That'd be unbelievable.”
