Jincy Roese will be on the visiting team, but when her Ottawa Charge visit St. Louis as part of the PWHL Takeover Tour, it will be a homecoming.
When the puck drops March 7 between the Boston Fleet and Ottawa Charge, technically the Canadian team from Ottawa will be the visitors. For Charge defender Jincy Roese however, it will be a homecoming.
Roese, a Missouri product, grew up playing for the St. Louis Lady Blues. On March 7 she'll step onto the ice at 18,096 seat Enterprise Center in downtown St. Louis to play her first professional game in her home city in front of friends and family.
She'll also get to play in front of other young girls in St. Louis, an opportunity she didn't have growing up.
"It will be very humbling that I get to be in that position and be a role model for those girls," said Roese. "I'm really excited for them to get to see professional hockey up front close because they don't have that opportunity..."
The Dunne family, which is Roese's maiden name, is hockey royalty in St. Louis. The family includes not only Jincy, but USA national team member and Ohio State forwad Joy Dunne, former Ohio State blueliner Jessica Dunne, Lindenwood defender Josey Dunne, Rochester Americans forward Josh Dunne who has 14 NHL games to his name, and former Oklahoma State hockey player James Dunne.
"My family is pumped," said Dunne. "I've had a lot of people reach out already. It's always fun to go home and get to play in front of friends and family."
