Minnesota Frost captain and PWHL leading scorer Kendall Coyne Schofield has been placed on LTIR with an injury she suffered at the 2026 Olympics during the gold medal game.

Minnesota Frost captain Kendall Coyne Schofield will miss at least the next two weeks of PWHL action after the team placed her on long-term injured reserve (LTIR).

Coyne Schofield was placed on LTIR retroactive to February 19, the date of USA's gold medal win over Canada with an upper-body injury. The team confirmed Coyne Schofield suffered the injury while competing for USA at the Olympic Games.

In her place, the team signed former Patty Kazmaier winner Elizabeth Giguere who spent the past two seasons playing for the New York Sirens.

“I am incredibly proud of all our Frost Olympians who demonstrated true excellence on the world stage,” said Frost General Manager Melissa Caruso. “We are fully committed to supporting Kendall throughout her recovery, and our medical team will be working diligently to help her prepare for her return to the ice. Fortunately, Élizabeth has been training with us since the start of the season, and her skill and experience will be a tremendous asset to our lineup in Kendall's absence.”

Coyne Schofield was the PWHL's leading scorer prior to her injury. With a 21 day minimum for LTIR, Coyne Schofield will miss at least two games for the Frost before being eligible to return on or after their March 13 game against the Seattle Torrent.

Minnesota currently sits in third place in the PWHL standings, only two points back of Montreal and Boston who sit tied for first with 30 points.
