PWHL Las Vegas will hire Kim Weiss as their inaugural head coach ahead of the 2026-27 PWHL season.

Kim Weiss is set to become the first ever head coach for PWHL Las Vegas. The hire was announced by PWHL Las Vegas general manager Dominique DiDia this week.

"We intend to hire Kim Weiss," said DiDia, adding that the official hiring was on hold as Weiss finished her current sesaon.

Earlier this year Weiss was promoted to assistant coach with the AHL's Colorado Eagles. She'd been serving as a video coach prior to the promotion.

Weiss and DiDia played hockey together at Trinity College as well. According to DiDia, the long standing connection, and their aligned vision for the team were major selling points.

"Kim and I are very aligned with what we'd like to build in Vegas and she's been aligned from the beginning with me...we've known each other for a really long time and I couldn't be more thrilled to work through what we need to, just to sign the X's and O's and bring her on officially with Vegas..."

Weiss was first hired by the Colorado Eagles as the team's video coach in 2024, before earning her promotion in January 2026.

Prior to that, Weiss was a guest coach at the last four Colorado Avalanche Development Camps and was an assistant coach for the Trinity College men's program at the NCAA DIII level in the 2023-24 season. Before this, Weiss coached with the NAHL's Maryland Black Bears and girls' hockey with the Washington Pride. During that span, newly signed Vegas forward Hayley Scamurra would frequently skate with Weiss and the Black Bears.
