There is perhaps no bigger game on the PWHL schedule this season than tonight's match up between the Minnesota Frost and Ottawa Charge.

If the Frost lose, they're eliminated from the playoffs. If the Ottawa Charge win, they're in the playoffs.

If the Frost win, it sets up the final game of the season for both team's to decide their playoff fate. It's a point that's not been lost on either team.

“It’s a big game for us with our season on the line," said Minnesota Frost head coach Ken Klee. "Our players have been in these situations before and are excited for the challenge."

The Minnesota Frost are the reigning Walter Cup champions. Last season they nearly missed the postseason losing five consecutive games heading into playoffs. This year, if they lose either of their final two games, they're out.

On the opposite side of the puck, the Ottawa Charge can win, and they're in tonight.

"I think we see this game as a must win," said Ottawa captain Brianne Jenner. "Our mindset in the last little bit has been that we are playing playoff hockey already. That’s the reality. We need playoff attention to details. We need playoff effort. We need to be aware of the momentum changes in the game. We need to be ready to respond when the other team scores. We killed off a five-on-three penalty last game. It was a huge moment for us. We are getting better at handling those situations."

The game will be a pressure cooker from start to finish for both teams.

Both rosters enter the game relatively intact with the main lingering injury being Ottawa Charge starting goalie Emerance Maschmeyer. In her absence however, Gwyneth Philips, who was the top goalie picked in the 2024 PWHL Draft, has been stellar.

Puck drop is at 7pm at TD Place in Ottawa.
