Las Vegas today signed defenders Mae Batherson and Kendall Cooper, both to two-year contracts, from the Minnesota Frost.
Cooper was one of the PWHL's top rookies this season scoring 19 points in 30 games. The 24-year-old from Oakville, Ontario twice represented Canada at the U-18 World Championships and was a first round pick, sixth overall of Minnesota this season. She finished her NCAA career last season with Quinnipiac.
Batherson finished her second season with Minnesota having a breakout campaign recording 15 points in 30 games from the Frost blueline. The 25-year-old Nova Scotia product won a Walter Cup with Minnesota in 2024-25 as a rookie after her NCAA career split between St. Lawrence and Syracuse. She was a sixth round pick in the 2024 PWHL Draft and has since played well above that distinction.
The duo were often paired on a power play unit this season for the Minnesota Frost as one of the league's top two-way defensive units who can both produce and defend using their feet.
