The six cities - Montreal, Toronto, New York City, Boston, Ottawa, and Minnesota have been officially secured for the new Professional Women's Hockey League.
The six inaugural markets for the new Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) have been confirmed. These are the "original six" of the now confirmed PWHL.
The six cities include Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto in Canada, and New York City, Boston, and Minnesota in the USA.
Minnesota is reportedly set to play in St. Paul.
Other cities initially under consideration includes London, Ontario, Chicago, and Pittsburgh among others.
The announcement keeps professional women's hockey in five of the seven markets previously occupied by PHF franchises. The lone markets not continued by the new league were Buffalo and Connecticut.
Prior to the dissolution of the CWHL, resulting in the founding of the PWHPA, the league also had franchises in Montreal, Toronto, and Boston/Worcester.
Rumors have also circulated, albeit unconfirmed, about possible venues in the selected cities including arenas like UBS Arena, Walter Brown Arena, and Place Bell.
