PWHL New York hit several home runs at the PWHL Draft making massive upgrades to their roster. Here's a look at their depth chart following the 2024 PWHL Draft.

PWHL New York pulled a 180 though the hiring of Colgate head coach Greg Fargo as their new bench boss, followed by a talent laden draft class. General manager Pascal Daoust should have felt pretty confident in the work they did to make New York a competitive team next season.

Last year, they had the talent, but failed to gel, or act as a team. This year, they've added star power, veteran experience, leadership, and character. It's a spackling of intangibles that will make New York much harder to play against.

Here's a look at their depth chart as it stands following the draft.

    Forwards

New York added a lot here. It will certainly mean shifting either Noora Tulus or Abby Roque to the right wing to pad their depth there, but the fact both are natural centers is a boost that can't be ignored. Add in Elle Hartje and Gabby Rosenthal and New York gained depth. It will certainly push out a number of players from last year, and it may even push players like Jill Saulnier who were on two-year deals out of a spot. They needed scoring help, leadership, and two-way responsibility and between Sarah Fillier, Tulus, Hartje, Rosenthal, and the underrated Emmy Fecteau, this team found that up front. It will be interesting to see if their's room for players like Emma Woods, Paeytn Levis, Madison Packer, Alex Labelle, Kayla Vespa, or Savannah Norcross to return. Odds are, it will be one, maybe two of these players, and the rest will end up as reserves, in another city, or out of the league.

    Defenders

This is a deep and talented pool. Adding a pair of right hand defenders is important. Maja Nylen Persson certainly likes to contribute offensively, but she can defend equally well, and Ally Simpson is going to provide reliable minutes. It wouldn't be surprising to see Hobson and Simpson pushing the veterans ahead of them for ice as this season progresses. The only spot left to fill here is a seventh defender role. Taylor Baker could come back from last season, but it's equally likely New York dips into the free agent pool.

    Goaltenders

Corinne Schroeder is the backbone of this organization and the Goaltender of the Year finalist will be the starter again, but New York grabbed Kayle Osborne in the draft. She made Canada's national team Rivalry Series roster in 2023 and looked good at Canada's selection camp. She reunites with her Colgate coach Greg Fargo. Abbey Levy looks like she could remain, but it would be in competition with Osborne, and likely as the number three.
