PWHL Toronto looks built to challenge for a Walter Cup in season two. They bolstered their depth and added some young talent through the draft. Here's a look at their depth chart.
PWHL Toronto has build a powerhouse up front. They have more depth at forward, size and speed, than any other team in the league. Last season that didn't result in a championship, but Toronto is approaching this season looking primed to challenge for a title. They still have work to do on the blueline, but things are looking up in Toronto.
Here's a look at PWHL Toronto's depth chart following the draft:
Forwards
No team in the PWHL will be able to challenge Toronto's depth, size, and skill up front. They've put together a juggernaut and positionally are as well balanced as anyone could hope. Any absence of Natalie Spooner would be a tremendous loss, but this lineup can sustain itself without any single part. It will be really interesting to see how often Troy Ryan just rolls lines because this lineup has the potential to strike against any match up.
Defenders
Where Toronto managed to pad their forward group with immense depth, they didn't achieve that same success on the blueline. Megan Carter is an excellent addition on the backend, and Bernard will be a steady blueliner, but they still have a whole on the right side unless they ask one of their rookies, or veteran Allie Munroe, if they can re-sign her, to the right side. It's a spot Gina Kingsbury could also address during free agency as there are options out there.
Goaltenders
With the reigning PWHL Goaltender of the Year in Kristen Campbell, PWHL Toronto will run it back with their starter. They brought in Ohio State's starter who won an NCAA title this season in Raygan Kirk to mentor under Campbell. Kingsbury and Ryan are familiar with her from Hockey Canada camps. It will be interesting to see how Toronto approaches their third spot. It's likely they'll either keep one of their two netminders from this year, or they'll target a veteran like Abbey Levy, Sandra Abstreiter, or Lindsey Post for a third who could play in a pinch.
