Hayley Lunny and Rachel McQuigge are headed back to the Metropolitan Riveters after both players signed new one-year contracts with the team this week.

Lunny, a pro hockey rookie last year played her first seven games of the season with the PWHPA's Team Scotiabank before jumping to the Metropolitan Riveters for their final eight games of the season where she recorded three assists.

A Providence College alumni, Lunny added a physical, two-way element to the Riveters.

“We are grateful to have Hayley back. She joined us late last season and kept improving pretty much every week until the end,” said Riveters head coach Venla Hovi. “She plays the game the right way and is very dependable. On top of on-ice performance she provides continuous positivity and is a great team player.”

McQuigge was also a rookie with the Riveters last season after a spectacular four year NCAA career with Princeton where she compiled a 1.88 GAA and .933 save percentage in 61 games. With the Riveters, McQuigge went 4-4-0 posting a 3.39 GAA and .888 save percentage. She'll be the other half of Metropolitan's goaltending tandem that also includes future Hockey Hall of Famer Noora Raty.

"Rachel had a great first year outside of her injury and she proved that she can be a winning goalie at the pro level,” said Hovi. “She is very athletic and explosive, and she battles hard every drill. Rachel wants to learn and I'm looking forward to seeing her growth moving forward."
