Minnesota general manager Natalie Darwitz signed waiver pickup Mellissa Channell to a one-year deal. She was a player Minnesota's veterans vouched for saying she'd be an asset in the locker room.
When Mellissa Channell was placed on waivers by Toronto, it didn't take long for PWHL Minnesota general manager Natalie Darwitz's phone to start ringing. It was from Channell's agent or Toronto, it was from her own veteran players telling Darwitz to pick up Channell.
The players stated Channell is a versatile player on the ice and would be a "tremendous asset" in the locker room for Minnesota.
It was enough for Darwitz to make a move to bring in Channell, and then sign her to a one-year contract.
