PWHL Minnesota captured the first ever Walter Cup as the PWHL's champions. Minnesota held the play in game five of the PWHL finals earning a 3-0 win to claim the title.
After a scoreless first period looking like things were going to go down to the wire again, Liz Schepers broke the deadlock at 6:14 of the second period. Sydney Brodt carried the puck through the middle of the ice and looked to take a shot but missed the puck. The miscue froze Aerin Frankel and when Brodt collected the puck again she slid it behind Frankel to a crashing Liz Schepers who put the puck home.
In the third period, Michela Cava scored her fourth goal of the PWHL finals walking the puck around the net which slid through Frankel to the goal line where Boston poked the puck into their own net to make it 2-0.
Kendall Coyne Schofield finished the game off scoring into the empty net for PWHL Minnesota making it 3-0.
For Minnesota it was redemption after they believed they'd won the Walter Cup in double overtime of game four before having the goal called back after they started celebrating, which was closely followed by Boston winning in double overtime.
Aerin Frankel made 41 saves in the losing effort for Boston while Nicole Hensley stopped 17 for the shutout.
