The Montreal Victoire entered the 2024 PWHL playoffs as favorites in their opening round series against Boston.

They left that series three games later being swept by the now Boston Fleet in three hard fought, overtime filled games.

While Montreal has a largely new roster heading into the 2025 PWHL playoffs where they'll face the Ottawa Charge in their opening round series, the team is still leaning on lessons learned.

"In terms of lessons learned, I think...you grow with every experience that you have," said Montreal head coach Kori Cheverie. "We're one year older. As an organizatio, we've got our team name, our identity and you know our fans that support us every single game...If we go into a playoff series with our fans behind us, I like our odds."

Cheverie called last year's playoff loss to Boston Montreal's "best games of the year" and that Montreal remains a process based team focusing on preparation each and every game, including for this series against Ottawa.

"Honestly, it was a lesson for all of us," said Marie-Philip Poulin. She harkened Ted Lasso's famous line that the team needs to be like a goldfish and forget those low moments.

"The amount of work that's been put in from last year to this year, people are excited," continued Poulin. "We know it's going to be physical. It's going to be playoff hockey. It's going to be hard, and for us it's going to be whoever is ready to go for 60 minutes. And I see being that consistent team, that relentless, that gritty team that's going to be there day in and day out to show up."
