

Natalie Spooner scored a hat trick becoming the first PWHL player to hit double digits in goals leading PWHL Toronto to a 5-3 win on the road over Boston.

In the opening frame, Sarah Nurse got Toronto on the board finding a puck off an Emma Maltais shot before she chipped it over the shoulder of Boston's Emma Soderberg.
The second period was all Natalie Spooner, who entered the game as the PWHL's leading goal scorer. Taking a long stretch pass from Lauriane Rougeau, Spooner drove in along before tucking the puck in on her forehand to make it 2-0. Minutes later Sarah Nurse delayed before finding a streaking Spooner who made no mistake scoring her second of the game and ninth of the season.
The third period turned into a back and forth affair as Jamie Lee Rattray finally broke Campbell's shutout, but less than a minute and a half later, Kali Flanagan answered back for Toronto. In quick succession again, less than a minute after Flanagan's goal, Boston's Hannah Brandt scored her second of the season to keep Boston within two.
In the dying minutes of the period, Boston pulled there goalie which resulted in Spooner finding a puck in the crease and tapping home her third of the night. Spooner's hat trick made her the first player in the PWHL to hit double digits in goals notching her 10th of the year.
Emma Maltais picked up her third assist of the night on Spooner's final tally.
Taylor Girard would score exactly one minute later, but it wasn't enough for Boston as Toronto held on for the 5-3 win.
Kristen Campbell was solid in net for Toronto stopped 32 of 35 shots faced, while on the other side of the puck Emma Soderberg struggled allowing four goals on 18 shots.
The game was the first for Susanna Tapani in a PWHL Boston uniform after she was acquired alongside Abby Cook from PWHL Minnesota in exchange for blueliner Sophie Jaques. Tapani recorded three shots in the loss.
