
PWHL New York has finalized their coaching staff hiring Colton Orr and Mike Sommer as assistant coaches.

PWHL New York has finalized their bench staff for the inaugural PWHL season hiring Colton Orr and Mike Sommer as assistant coaches to work with head coach Howie Draper.
Colton Orr spent the past five seasons behind the bench with the PHF's Connecticut Whale. In 2022, he led the Whale to their first ever regular season title and Isobel Cup appearance. He has recently signed a two-year contract extension with the franchise weeks prior to the PHF acquisition. Prior to coaching, Colton Orr played 477 games in the NHL, primarily with the New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs. Known as an enforcer, Orr finished his NHL career with 1186 penalty minutes.
Mike Sommer joins PWHL New York from USports hockey where he was an assistant coach with the University of British Columbia women’s hockey team. He coached with the UBC Thunderbirds for nine seasons.
