The New York Sirens are facing some banged up players on their blueline.
Defender Maja Nylen Persson reportedly had an MRI to assess an injury, while Ella Shelton was held out of practice yesterday, skating separately from her teammates.
Due to the uncertainty surrounding two of New York's top defenders, the Sirens re-signed Olivia Knowles to a 10-day contract. Knowles was a member of the Sirens blueline until recently when the Sirens added Lauren Bernard forcing Knowles to the reserve roster.
“We are seizing every opportunity this league offers,” said Sirens General Manager Pascal Daoust. “That’s what having this kind of depth allows when unexpected situations arise. This gives Olivia the chance to step back into her role, one she knows and executes very well.”
Knowles has played in 10 games this season for the New York Sirens. The 26-year-old joined New York earlier this season after she was signed from Toronto's reserve roster.
