No Consensus Among Potential PWHL Team Names

There was no clear favourite among the six leaked potential PWHL in our THN-W readers poll. Here's how PWHL fans ranked the names.

When the PWHL's six trademarked team names leaked last year, the response was swift and negative. Since then, the PWHL has continued developing names, logos, and backstories for team names. No new names have been trademarked since, which could signal the league is proceeding with the names, despite calls for change.

The names were - Boston Wicked, Minnesota Superior, Montreal Echo, New York Sound, Ottawa Alert, and Toronto Torch.

In our first THN-W readers poll, a trend emerged was that this question was the "most skipped" with close to 100 respondents choosing not to answer the question. On social media, some of those respondents replied saying they did not like any of the names, so could not answer.

Those who did respond showed little consensus with the least selected name, Montreal Echo, still receiving 13.46% of the vote. Toronto Torch was the next lowest in the response category earning 14.06%.

Conversely, Boston Wicked took 24.55% of the vote as the top name.
