Netminder Kayle Osborne will get to start in front of her hometown crowd tonight in Ottawa as her New York Sirens face the Charge.
It will be a special evening for New York Sirens netminder Kayle Osborne as the rookie goaltender gets the start tonight in front of her hometown crowd in Ottawa, Ontario.
It will be Osborne's second start this season against the Charge after she made her first career start against the team on January 7 stopping 34 shots in a 3-2 loss.
Osborne grew up in Ottawa playing boys' 'AAA' for the Upper Canada Cyclones before suiting up in the OWHL for the Ottawa Lady Senators. After four seasons in the NCAA with Colgate, New York picked her in the fifth round, 28th overall in the 2024 PWHL Draft.
New York themselves are looking to bounce back from a disappointing loss in front of 19,102 fans against Toronto at the second Battle on Bay Street this week.
“We’re looking forward to this game in Ottawa tonight as we weren’t satisfied with our last game and the effort in Toronto on Saturday," says New York head coach Greg Fargo. "We know there is a standard at which we need to play, and we want to hit that and keep it. The standings are incredibly tight, and every game has playoff implications. It sure feels like the race to the playoffs is on.”
While it will be a return to her hometown for Osborne, Ottawa will also welcome back star forward Katerina Mrazova who has missed the last five games with a lower body injury.
“It’s nice to see her back out there, anyone that watches our group understands the impact she has," said Ottawa head coach Carla MacLeod of Mrazova's return. "She is one of the better players in the world. She knows it. We know it. It's just nice to have that confidence and experience back. She's moving pucks like she normally does and she’s looking like herself.”
Puck drop is at 7pm at TD Place in Ottawa.
