Katerina Mrazova re-signed with PWHL Ottawa back on June 20, a deal the league and team announced today.

As reported by The Hockey News on June 21, PWHL Ottawa has signed Katerina Mrazova to a two-year extension. Mrazova was signed on June 20 before hitting free agency, but the team and league only today, July 8, announced the deal.

“Kateřina is extremely talented and just had a terrific season with us. She’s an experienced player, a true veteran. She’s been around in professional hockey and on the international stage. She’s an elite passer. Because she’s an elite passer, everyone loves having her on their line. We’ll be very happy to be able to count on such a gifted offensive player in the coming seasons,” comments PWHL Ottawa General Manager Mike Hirshfeld.

“I am extremely excited to re-sign with Ottawa and continue my career in the PWHL,” says Mrázová. “I can’t wait to get back to work with my teammates and perform my best for our fans and accomplish the ultimate goal of winning the Walter Cup!”

A native of Kolín, Czechia, Mrázová appeared in 23 of PWHL Ottawa’s 24 games during the 2024 season. Her 18 points helped her finish the campaign as the team’s second-highest scorer. She also scored three goals in three shootout attempts. Finishing the season on a high note with 15 points in her last 13 games allowed her to climb up to 10th in the PWHL’s top scoring list.

On the international scene, Mrázová took part in the IIHF Women’s World Championship in 2013, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023. She won bronze medals in 2022 and 2023. She was also part of the Czech team in 2024, but an injury sustained in a pre-tournament game kept her out of action. She also competed in the Beijing Olympic Winter Games in 2022.
