Ottawa Hoping To Avoid Being On The "Outside Looking In"

The Ottawa Charge are currently on the outside of the PWHL's playoff race looking in. It's something they hope to change. Facing the Minnesota Frost this week on the PWHL's Takeover tour, who sit directly above them in the final playoff position,  Ottawa has that chance.

"We're on the outside looking in," Ottawa head coach Carla MacLeod told media. "We're well aware of where we sit, but also well aware of the momentum we've been building and how our game's been trending. So you know, I think everyone that watches league in season one, you know, is not going to be surprised how season two is playing out for everyone, and that it's a neck and neck race to the last regular season game with our three point system. Everything can move and shake."

With a regulation win against Minnesota, the Charge would tie Minnesota for the final playoff position, but move past them based on tie breakers. With only ten games remaining, every contest is important for both teams, who face each other twice this coming week.

"There's 10 games left, so a third of the season," says MacLeod. So there's a lot of hockey left in front of us, and a lot of hockey left in front of all six teams in this league. So for us, it's about maintaining our focus on our game and ensuring that we, you know, you can gain points at every opportunity."

Last year Ottawa was in a playoff spot until the final games of the season. This year the Ottawa Charge hope to move in the opposite direction from the outside looking in, to inside a playoff spot.
