The PWHL is testing rule variations for power plays and line changes this week. Here's the player and coach response to the early tests.
This week at the PWHL Preseason Camp, the league tried a variety of rule variations. The main two were not ending minor penalties after a goal was scored, and forcing teams to use a long change in both the first and third periods rather than only the traditional second period.
Thursday the league will test not allowing shorthanded teams ice the puck.
Following the opening day of games, players responded to the rule changes, with general positivity related to the opportunity both changes had to create more scoring chances and offense.
