Montreal Victoire captain Marie-Philip Poulin and assistant captain Erin Ambrose both missed their first PWHL game back after suffering injuries at the 2026 Olympics in Italy.

The Montreal Victoire returned to PWHL action Thursday night, beating the New York Sirens 4-1 in their first post-Olympics game, but they did so without captain Marie-Philip Poulin and assistant captain Erin Ambrose.

Both continued to recover from injuries suffered in Italy during the 2026 Olympics.

Poulin suffered a right knee injury during Canada's preliminary round game against Czechia taking a hit from New York Sirens forward Kristyna Kaltounkova.

Ambrose was injured, suffering what the team is calling a lower-body injury taking a hit from USA's Britta Curl-Salemme in the gold medal game.

While Poulin is listed as day-to-day, Ambrose has been placed on long term injured reserve (LTIR) retroactive to February 19. It means Ambrose, who missed Thursday's game, will miss at least two more games for the Victoire as she will not be eligible to return to the lineup until the Victoire's March 15 game against Boston.

“We are extremely proud of what our athletes accomplished at the Olympic Winter Games. They represented their country and our league brilliantly,” said Victoire general manager Danièle Sauvageau. “The constant communication between the national teams and our organization will help us support our players in their return to action, and we are confident that they will be back in the lineup in the near future.”

In corresponding moves to maintain their roster, the Montreal Victoire signed 2025 draft pick Tamaa Giaquinto to a standard PWHL contract, while they signed Kelly-Ann Nadeau to a 10-day contract.
